Dog Friendly at Allerford Tea Room

Muddy Paws, waggy tails and well-behaved humans always welcome.

At Allerford Tea Room, dogs are very much a part of the family. Whether you’re stopping off after a countryside walk, exploring Exmoor, or simply popping in for a coffee with your four-legged companion, you’ll find a relaxed, welcoming space where both dogs and their humans can feel at home.

You will often be greeted by our resident dogs, Teddy and Norman (usually only around in the mornings), who love saying hello to visitors and soaking up the attention.

Fresh water bowls are always available, and dogs are welcome to settle alongside your table, both indoors and outdoors, as long as they are comfortable and considerate of other guests.

Ted & Norman’s Doggy Delights Menu

We have a dedicated dog menu, so your pup doesn’t have to miss out on the fun! From Hearty Meat Bowls to Doggy Ice-creams, your dog can even enjoy a bottle of Bottom Sniffer Beer. We want to make sure their visit to us is just as special as yours.

Paws of Fame - Our Dog of the Month

Each month we celebrate our visiting dogs through our Paws of Fame, displayed in the Tea Room.

Visitors can enter by uploading a photo of of their dog enjoying their visit. Each contestant will then be uploaded to our Facebook Page, where our lovely online audience will ‘vote’ for the winner.

The winner will be featured on our wall in the tea room, shared on our socials, and receive a free bottle of doggy beer on their next visit.

It’s a fun way to celebrate all the dogs who visit us and create memories.

Walking Guides Available

Allerford is a lovely starting point for exploring on foot, with a mix of gentle wanders and long countryside walks.

We have created two self-guided walking maps to help you discover the area, at your own pace - from peaceful riverside paths and woodland trails, to a gentle stroll exploring the village, its history and hidden spots.

Printed copies are available at the tea room, or you can access them using the links below.

A Few Friendly Guidelines

To keep things enjoyable for everyone:

  • Dogs should be well-behaved and kept under control at all times

  • Please be mindful of other guests, including children and anyone who may be nervous around dogs

  • If your dog needs a little extra space or quiet, our team will always try to help where possible

  • If in doubt, just ask - we’re always happy to help

  • Please clean up any ‘mess’ from your dog.

  • If exploring the surrounding countryside, please be aware of livestock in fields and keep dogs on leads when necessary.

Planning Your Visit

If you’re travelling with a dog and would like to check anything before your arrival, please feel free to get in touch - we’re more than happy to help plan a comfortable visit for both you and your pup.
