Nestled in the picturesque village of Allerford, between Minehead and Porlock, our family-run tea room is a place where dogs are just as welcome as their humans.

Whether you have spent the morning exploring Exmoor’s woodland trails, wandering along the South West Coast Path or simply fancy a relaxing stop with your four-legged companion, you will find a warm welcome waiting for you.

Dogs Welcome Inside and Out

There is no need to leave your dog outside while you enjoy a coffee or something delicious to eat.

Dogs are very welcome inside our cosy tea room and in both our gardens, so whether you are visiting on a chilly winter morning or a sunny summer afternoon, your four-legged friend can join you.

We welcome dogs of all shapes and sizes, from tiny terriers to great big muddy adventurers.

All we ask is that dogs are kept under control and that their owners are considerate of our other visitors, both human and canine.

We love meeting our four-legged visitors so much that we created our very own monthly dog competition, Paws of Fame.

Whether they’re tucking into something from our doggy menu, relaxing in one of our gardens or simply making themselves comfortable in the tea room, we would love to see them!

We share the entries on our Facebook page, where our followers can vote for their favourites by liking their photographs.

The dog with the most votes is crowned our Paws of Fame winner for the month!

We are absolutely delighted that Allerford Tea Room & Gardens has been named a 2026 finalist fro Dog Friendly Business of the Year at the Bristol, Bath, Somerset & Gloucestershire Tourism Awards. Results are announced late November so keep your eyes peeled!

For us, being dog-friendly isn’t simply allowing dogs through our door. It’s about making them feel genuinely welcome, ensuring their owners can relax and enjoy their visit, and recognising that dogs are part of the family too.

A lovely riverside and woodland walk, taking in some of the beautiful natural surroundings of Allerford.

Both walks can be enjoyed at your own pace, making them a lovely way to explore with your four-legged friend.

If you are looking to venture a little further, we are also close to some of Exmoor’s most beautiful walking destinations.

From the picturesque village of Selworthy and the peaceful countryside around Bossington to the woodland trails of the Holnicote Estate and the dramatic coastline near Porlock, there is no shortage of places to explore.

And when you have finished your adventure, head back to Allerford Tea Room & Gardens, where you can relax with homemade food, a freshly brewed coffee or a traditional cream tea while your dog enjoys something from our doggy delights menu.

  • Absolutely! Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside our tea room as well as in both of our gardens, so you can enjoy a visit together whatever the Exmoor weather brings.

  • We welcome entries from our canine visitors who would love their moment in the spotlight!

    To enter, simply snap a picture of your dog enjoying their visit here with us. Send your picture, along with your dogs name, using either our Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, both of which can be accessed using the QR codes here at the tea room.

  • One week before the end of each month, we upload all of our entries to our Facebook page, where our online followers vote for their favourite by ‘liking’ the photogragh of their chosen winner!

    The dog with the most votes on the last day of the month is crowned the winner!

    At the end of the year, all of our winners will be uploaded once again to compete for our Champion of Champions 2026!

  • Of course! We understand that some families have more than one four-legged companion. You’re welcome to bring they’re well behaved and there’s sufficient space for everyone to be comfortable.
